Andrew and Lindsay asked us to help prepare their two
Boston Terriers for the arrival of their first baby, Claire
Mackenzie. This is their latest progress report:
Things
are going well. The dogs have adjusted great! Baxter could really
care less, which surprised me because he's always wanting to be in
everyone's business. I do notice that her cries concern him; he
always seems to think he needs to check on her to make
sure she's okay. But when he see's that it doesn't concern us, he's
reassured and goes back to whatever he was doing.

Daisy has surprised me as well. I think at first she was taken
aback by the additional "competition" for attention. But as far as
any aggression toward Claire..... none whatsoever. She will lay down
next to her when we have floor time together and she'll kiss her
hands and legs (I don't let her get the face, although she'll try
every once in awhile).
We have a burping ritual! When claire
is eating and needs to burp, I call the puppies over and they sit in
front of her (Daisy often tries to jump in her face and lick the
milk off her lips....). But they sit there and distract Claire while
she works up her burp. She LOVES to watch them.
Daisy often
brings her toy over to Claire... once dropping it on her face when
we were having floor time because I had looked away.
Didn't bother Claire one bit other than a small startle. Daisy
doesn't quite understand that Claire isn't able to throw the
toy or play tug.
